Supported Charity 2012

The charity that WYAM's will be supporting and raising funds for this year is the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice based in Huddersfield.

The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports children with life limiting conditions and their families. The charity began more than 12 years ago as a result of the challenges of a local mum whose son, Russell, became very ill and needed hospice care. She was concerned at the lack of local support, and set about changing this.

12 years on The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice is now a reality. In October 2010 the charity began supporting children and families through its hospice at home service. To date they have received more than 50 referrals, and are already helping almost 30 children and their families, with more coming to them every week. At the same time they have just completed the construction of a brand new purpose-built children’s hospice in Huddersfield. They are planning to welcome children through their doors early in 2012, once they have equipped and furnished the new hospice.

About Us

WYAMs Logo

Welcome to West Yorkshire Advanced Motorcyclists (WYAMS). We are a friendly and very active club with membership currently standing at over 150 strong. Our passion covers all things motorcycle related, with many of our people possessing a wealth of knowledge that is freely shared across the group - all in the name of increasing your motorcycling enjoyment.

Bikers wishing to join us do so through the IAM 'Skills for Life' programme. This gives them Associate status for one year, during which they are expected to train and take the Advanced Motorcycling Test. Once passed, this entitles them to full IAM membership for life, providing annual subs to IAM central and the chosen local club are maintained.

One of the IAM’s key goals is to help its Members and Associates develop the advanced skills that help make riding a more enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Being an advanced rider is a journey of continuous learning, and one of its key stages is the internationally recognised Advanced Test. Pioneered by the IAM, it is this for which we are perhaps best known.

We are a sociable club holding regular rides and social events.
